Job description

Description

We are seeking a reliable and skilled C-Class Machinist to join our production team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating various machine tools to produce precision metal parts, following blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. As a C-Class Machinist, you will work with a range of machines including lathes, mills, and grinders to manufacture components that meet strict tolerances and quality standards.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Machine Operation: Operate and maintain CNC and manual machines (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.) to produce high-precision parts according to blueprints, work orders, and job specifications.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and blueprints with detailed measurements, tolerances, and part specifications to ensure accuracy during machining operations.
  • Setup & Calibration: Set up and calibrate machines, including adjusting tool feeds, speeds, and machine settings to meet specifications. Install and secure workpieces, tools, and accessories as required.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges, to ensure parts meet the required specifications and tolerances.
  • Tool Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain machine tools and equipment. Replace worn or broken tools and ensure machines are operating at optimal performance.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and procedures in the operation of machines, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Material Handling: Safely load and unload raw materials and finished products to and from the machines, ensuring proper handling to avoid damage.
  • Collaboration: Work with supervisors, engineers, and other machinists to address production issues, improve machining processes, and meet deadlines.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate records of machine setup, production, and maintenance activities. Document any issues or deviations from the specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical certification in machining or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience:
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in machining, particularly operating CNC and/or manual machines.
  • Familiarity with common machining processes (turning, milling, grinding) and related tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in the use of manual and CNC machine tools such as lathes, mills, and grinders.
  • Knowledge of precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.) and ability to maintain tight tolerances.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues with machines or parts.
  • Understanding of machining materials and the processes involved in machining different metals and alloys.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Comfort working in a noisy, hot, and industrial setting.
  • Ability to use appropriate PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other required protective gear.
Important Job Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants should have working knowledge and experience with the following:

  • Ability to accurately read and use micrometers, calipers, depth micrometers, and inside (I.D.) micrometers.
  • Familiarity with CNC G-codes and M-codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret CNC programs directly from the machine control.
