Job summary

Kyocera International, Inc. in Vancouver, WA is seeking a Machinist to set up and operate CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, vertical machining centers, and surface grinders to produce ceramic parts.

The role typically runs 1-3 machines concurrently on weekend nights. Qualified applicants have a high school diploma or GED, CNC experience, and the ability to read drawings and GD&T; strong precision skills and willingness to work overtime and pass background checks.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Machine Technology certificate preferred.
  • 1+ years advanced CNC 3 axis machining experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Read mechanical drawings/blueprints including GD and T.
  • Vision and depth perception suitable for use of inspection microscopes.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to mentor, train or lead other Operators.
  • Must pass criminal background check and drug screen.
  • Eligible to work in an ITAR environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and observes CNC machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining; adjusts machine controls or indicators as required.
  • May measure, mark, and/or scribe dimensions and reference points on parts; review technique cards and customer work orders for changes.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines to maintain .0005 tolerances.
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
  • Documents scrapped parts or machine issues; communicate with peers to ensure continuous machine utilization.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications; reads prints and inspects per ISO 9001.
  • May be trained on CMM or optical comparator; uses micrometers, calipers, depth gauges for GDT checks.
  • Reports machine failures, non-conformance, spills, and safety concerns.
  • Participates in P5S; keeps machinery clean and area clear of debris.
  • Performs basic preventative maintenance on machines daily and records.
  • Adhere to safety programs including PPE and safe operating practices.
  • Perform any other related duties as required.
