Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Under minimal supervision, responsible for quality parts produced on machines such as CNC boring mills.
• Set-up, operate, and inspect parts to ensure conformance to specifications, maintaining close tolerances and efficiency.
• Interpret drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, and setup requirements.
• Measure and mark dimensions on workpieces as guides for machining.
• Detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, adjust machines accordingly, and report issues to supervisors.
• Assist in solving complex operational problems and participate in cost reduction projects.
• Operate forklifts and lifting devices for part movement.
• Communicate with team members and supervisors to resolve machining or quality issues.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and perform basic preventative maintenance.
• Enforce company health, safety, and environmental policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

• 3-5 years of experience operating CNC HBM machines in heavy manufacturing.
• Experience with Fanuc controls.
• Ability to create own machine setups.
• Advanced skills in reading drawings, specifications, and geometric tolerances.
• Basic math skills including geometry and algebra for fabrication calculations.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, and scales.
• Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, and inserts used on various machines.
