JOB DESCRIPTION
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Under minimal supervision, responsible for quality parts produced on machines such as CNC boring mills.
- Set-up, operate, and inspect parts to ensure conformance to specifications, maintaining close tolerances and efficiency.
- Interpret drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, and setup requirements.
- Measure and mark dimensions on workpieces as guides for machining.
- Detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, adjust machines accordingly, and report issues to supervisors.
- Assist in solving complex operational problems and participate in cost reduction projects.
- Operate forklifts and lifting devices for part movement.
- Communicate with team members and supervisors to resolve machining or quality issues.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and perform basic preventative maintenance.
- Enforce company health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years of experience operating CNC HBM machines in heavy manufacturing.
- Experience with Fanuc controls.
- Ability to create own machine setups.
- Advanced skills in reading drawings, specifications, and geometric tolerances.
- Basic math skills including geometry and algebra for fabrication calculations.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, indicators, and scales.
- Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, and inserts used on various machines.
