Job summary

FlightSafety International is seeking an entry-level Machinist to learn and perform basic machine setup, operation, and inspection tasks in a manufacturing environment. The role targets individuals beginning a machining career who want to develop technical skills, follow safety standards, and contribute to production goals.

Responsibilities include setting up CNC and manual machines, reading blueprints, and measuring finished parts to spec.

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in machining as a skilled trade.
• Ability to learn how to operate machines, read blueprints, and use precision measuring tools.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
• Good problem-solving skills and willingness to ask questions.
• HS Diploma/GED
• One (1) year of experience in industrial technology (can include school experience)

Responsibilities

• Set up and tear down CNC machines and manual machines.
• Read and interpret CNC codes.
• Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
• Remove and replace dull cutting tools.
• Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machine malfunction.
• Lift work pieces to machines manually.
• Calculate machine speed and feed ratios.
