Job summary

SMS group Gary is seeking motivated CNC Machinists for an apprenticeship program to advance skills in metalworking. You will set up and operate CNC and manual machines, read blueprints, and document daily activities while adhering to safety standards.

Ideal candidates have 6+ months of CNC experience, can interpret precise measurements, and are eager to learn. Company offers apprenticeship progression, benefits, and a team-focused environment.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months of CNC Machining experience.
• Converting metric and standard measurements.
• Basic Trigonometry functions.
• Ability to read and interpret precise measuring tools.
• HR diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and manual machinery for metalworking applications.
• Work with G-code and Mazatrol when available.
• Complete SOP travelers and document daily activities; advise supervisor of non-conformance.
• Interpret assembly drawings and blueprints.
• Follow proper safety precautions.
• Maintain organized and clean work area.
• Rig heavy machinery and equipment for overhead crane operations.
• Collaborate with team and maintain safety-minded approach.
