Job summary

Volt is hiring a CNC Machinist for the San Diego area (Mira Mesa to El Cajon), CA. Responsibilities include setting up and operating CNC mills/ lathes, reading blueprints, and inspecting parts with precision tools. CAD experience is a plus, with opportunities on HAAS/Okuma machines.

Full-time temp-to-hire with comprehensive benefits. Requires a high school diploma, 2 years machine shop experience, and strong GD&T knowledge. Weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years in a machine shop.
• Knowledge of manufacturing environment and aerospace products.
• Must be detail-oriented, thorough, with good judgment.
• Must read, write, speak English.
• Knowledge of GD&T and reading engineering drawings.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.
• Weekend work may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC mills and/or lathes with proficiency.
• Determine setup procedures and control settings.
• Independently setup CNC machines and run programs.
• Establish work offsets and select cutting tools.
• Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers and gauges.
• Read blueprints and engineering instructions.
• Monitor quality and dimensional specs on parts.
• Understand CAD models and related drawings.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and follow procedures.

Job description

Volt is immediately hiring for a CNC Machinist for manufacturing companies in the San Diego Area, from Mira Mesa to El Cajon, CA.

As a CNC Machinist you will:

Day to Day Responsibilities

• Solid understanding of CNC mills and/or lathes.
• Determine setup procedures, control settings, machining methods and sequences.
• Independently setup and control settings on CNCs.
• Establish work offsets and set cutting tools.
• Knowledge of cutting tools and precision measuring equipment.
• Ability to follow BOM.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop instructions, customer drawings, and engineering instructions.
• Perform inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Make machine adjustments and tool changes as needed.
• Monitor machines and finished parts to ensure quality and dimensional specifications are met.
• Ability to understand CAD modeling.
• Past experience with HAAS and Okuma Brand CNC equipment is a plus but not required.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow all safety and quality procedures.

Required Skills

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift 30-50 lbs.
• CNC Mill and/or Lathe experience.
• CNC setup experience preferred.
• HAAS and/or Okuma experience is a plus.

Work Schedule

• 1st Shift: Monday - Friday 6:00am-2:30pm
• 2nd Shift: Monday - Friday 2:00pm-10:30pm
• 3rd Shift: Monday - Friday 10:00pm-6:30am

Pay

$25-35 per hour

* Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
