Aerotek in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist for our 3rd shift team. You will set up, operate, and maintain CNC mills, lathes, and grinders to produce precision metal components in a high-volume environment.

A 2+ year background in CNC machining, blueprint reading, and tight tolerances is required. The role offers competitive hourly pay, direct hire, and onsite work with benefits.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of CNC machining experience in a high-production environment.
• Experience with mills, lathes, grinders, or multi-axis machinery.
• Ability to read and work from blueprints to determine tolerances, requirements, and dimensions.
• Ability to perform tool changes, set ups, and tear downs.
• Ability to perform and document quality checks using micrometers and calipers.
• Ability to understand and work to tight tolerances, +/- 1020 microns.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for addressing basic machine, tooling, or process issues.
• Previous experience with programming or program editing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines including mills, lathes, grinders, and multi-axis machinery.
• Perform up to eight or nine tool changes per shift across assigned machines.
• Load parts and materials into CNC machines, pull programs, and make minor edits as needed.
• Run production parts in a high-volume environment, maintaining output and tight tolerances.
• Work with various types and thicknesses of steel, ensuring proper handling and setup.
• Perform regular in-process quality checks using micrometers and calipers.
