Job summary

RIM Recruitment Professionals is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to operate boring mills and program large, custom components in a precision-focused environment in Chicago. You will read blueprints, set up tooling and workholding, and create Mastercam programs for boring and multi-axis milling.

The role requires experience with G-code/M-code and Mastercam, plus ability to troubleshoot and optimize toolpaths. Competitive pay, benefits, and overtime opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience operating CNC Horizontal or Vertical Boring Mills.
  • Experience with G-code and/or M-code programming and interpretation for CNC machine control.
  • Strong proficiency with Mastercam CAD/CAM software, including creating, editing, and optimizing CNC programs for boring and milling operations.
  • Strong setup experience machining large, custom, or low-volume components.
  • Read blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.

  • Troubleshoot machining and programming issues to maintain productivity.
  • Follow all safety and quality standards while meeting production deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC Horizontal or Vertical Boring Mills to precision specifications.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Determine tooling, workholding, and machine setups for large, custom components.
  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam CAD/CAM software for boring and multi-axis milling operations.
  • Make program edits and machine adjustments to improve efficiency, accuracy, and part quality.

  • Experience with CNC program troubleshooting, toolpath optimization, and setup verification.
  • Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving skills.
Schedule

Monday–Friday: 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM OR 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Optional Saturday hours: 7:00 AM–12:00 PM

Overtime paid at 1.5x the regular hourly rate

Compensation
  • Pay: $30–$40 per hour, based on experience
