Job summary

Insight Global in Chesapeake, VA seeks an experienced Inside Machinist to manufacture complex components from stock or modify parts per drawings. You will set up and operate manual machines (lathes, mills, grinders, saws) and CNC machines (HAAS) with proper tooling and fixtures.

Proficiency reading blueprints and technical documents, using micrometers, height gauges, calipers and other gauges to record readings accurately is essential.

Qualifications

• Journeyman/specialist with 6+ years of experience.
• Proficient in setting up and operating lathe and mill machines (HAAS).
• Ability to read drawings and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes and mills, grinders, saws, and related tools.
• Operate CNC HAAS lathes/mills and select proper tooling and fixtures.
• Accurately record readings with micrometers, calipers and height/depth gauges.

Job description

Will have the ability manufacture complex components from stock or modify parts in accordance with all drawing requirements. Must be able to perform the set up and operation of all manual machines (lathes, mills, grinders, saws, etc.) along with the ability to perform programming, set up and operation of Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) machines (lathe and mills) and hand tools used in the trade as well as the ability to use all precision measuring instruments such as outside diameter and inside diameter micrometers, height gauges, depth gauges, calipers, verniers, lay-out tools and possess the ability to accurately record readings and measurements. Expert proficiency in reading complex blueprints, drawings, manuals, technical work documents, measuring and marking dimensions and reference points on material, selecting proper tooling, attachments and accessories as well as manufacturing fixtures to hold work pieces.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• 6+ years of being a journeyman/specialist level as an inside machinist
• 6+ years of setting up and operating lathe and mill machines (HAAS brand)
• Knowledge with G&M codes
• Experience with reading drawling's and design
