Job description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Receives instructions both verbally and from detailed prints and routings.
2. Will be required to set-up and operate CNC machining centers.
3. Performs operations that will include boring, counter boring, turning, tapping, threading, milling, drilling, reaming, broaching, chamfering, and deburring.
4. Assists with and/or constructs fixtures, jigs, tools, soft vise jaws, and shop aids.
5. Will produce piece parts & parts for prototypes as well as parts for machine and building maintenance as needed.
6. Assists with and/or performs repairs to parts on jigs, fixtures, dies, and shop aids.
7. Assists with repairs to machines and equipment in the machine shop as requested or required by maintenance.
8. All levels may perform other functions such as moving parts/material, loading/unloading, sweeping, cleaning, and various other assignments as needed.
9. Uses various measuring and inspection tools and equipment for piece part inspection, compliance, and accuracy verification.
10. Maintains a clean and safe work area.
11. Must supply own machine shop/metal working hand tools and measuring tools.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Minimum 3 years on-the-job experience setting up and operating Vertical Milling CNC’s.
3. Basic knowledge of shop math.
4. Fraction and Decimal conversion.
5. Ability to read and understand measuring and inspection equipment, tools.
6. Intermediate blueprint reading is desirable.
7. Basic computer skills.
8. CNC Mill Setup and Operations Certification from NIMS is desirable.
