Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a CNC Mill Machinist for a contract-to-hire role based in Utica, MI. The role involves programming, setting up, and operating CNC vertical milling machines in a prototype and small production environment, with roughly half the time spent programming and half on hands-on machining.

You will work with Saginaw 20 VMCs, MTI and Fanuc controllers, and Work NC software, reading blueprints and setting up tooling on VMCs and Bridgeport machines for prototype work.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of machining experience.
  • Hands-on experience with 3-axis vertical machining.
  • Proven ability to write, edit, and troubleshoot CNC programs for vertical machining centers.
  • Experience setting up and running Saginaw vertical machining centers.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Program, edit, set up, and run CNC vertical machining centers, handling jobs from start to finish.
  • Split time approximately 50/50 between programming and hands-on machining operations.
  • Operate Saginaw 20 VMCs with MTI and Fanuc controllers.
  • Use Work NC to create and modify CNC programs; adapt quickly from Mastercam.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to ensure accurate machining of parts.
  • Set up workpieces, tooling, and fixtures on CNC vertical mills and manual Bridgeport machines.
  • Operate manual Bridgeport mills with Acu-Rite controllers for prototype and small-run work.

Job Title: CNC Mill Machinist
Job Description
  • This role focuses on programming, setting up, and operating CNC vertical milling machines in a prototype and small production environment

  • You will work in a small, collaborative shop where you handle parts from start to finish, including programming, machining, and quality checks, while also assisting with general shop duties as needed

Job Responsibilities
  • Program, edit, set up, and run CNC vertical machining centers, handling jobs from start to finish

  • Split time approximately 50/50 between programming and hands‑on machining operations

  • Operate Saginaw 20 Vertical Machining Centers with MTI and Fanuc controllers

  • Use Work NC software to create and modify CNC programs; adapt quickly if coming from Mastercam experience

  • Read and interpret blueprints to ensure accurate machining of parts

  • Set up workpieces, tooling, and fixtures on CNC vertical mills and manual Bridgeport machines

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Utica, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
