Job summary

HDI Landing Gear, located in Springfield, OH, is seeking a Machinist to set up and machine precision components for aerospace programs. You will work with CNC lathes and mills, manage tools and offsets, and ensure parts meet specifications for major aircraft systems.

The role emphasizes robust safety practices, teamwork, and efficient production. Eligible candidates should demonstrate experience with CNC controls and a strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC lathes and mills to tight tolerances.
• Ability to read and interpret setup sheets and GD&T.
• Familiarity with machining automation and CAD/CAM basics.
• Strong adherence to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Set up and machine precision parts per specifications.

Information on the division:

Located in Springfield, the 70+ employee facility (100,000+ sq. ft.) is one of Héroux-Devtek’s centers of excellence for the manufacturing of medium to large complex landing gear and titanium components.

As part of the Central Division you will lead P&L responsible for critical machining operations of major commercial aircraft programs such as the Boeing 777 and Embraer E-2, and important military programs as F-18, F-35, C-17 and C-130.

Summary:

The Machinist will be responsible for the set up and machining precision parts to specifications with minimal assistance.

Main responsibilities

• Machine Control which includes pull and send programs; tool change; trouble shooting; entering tool and D-Comp offsets; M.D.I.
• Understanding setup sheets, tool lists and Operational Detail Sheets
• Calculating Work Offsets/Indicating
• Tightening and clamping pressures (i.e. ‘Free State’ condition and part clamped maintaining free state)
• Tape proving new and modified programs, anticipating what the machine will do before it cuts
• Preventive maintenance
• 6-S Activities
• Pre-start up inspections which incorporate Health & Safety awareness
• Running a combined number of machines simultaneously in a safe and effective manner. (Combo)
• Other duties as assigned
• Adhering at all times to company policies, procedures and health and safety requirements
