About This Opportunity

We are looking for experienced Machinists to join our growing team. Our operators will perform machine set-up and initial proofing out of programs. They will machine parts through professional utilization of various N.C. machine tools and related equipment. Our operators will perform first piece inspection of machined parts.

Responsibilities

  • Setup, run, inspect jobs on both Vertical and Horizontal centers and full 3 (multi) axis machines.
  • “Highly skilled” familiarity with at least one of the following CNC controls: Fanuc, Mazak, Haas.
  • Experience with a variety of different material types and hardness.
  • Highly familiar with Geometric dimensioning and tolerances - able to understand and explain any GD&T symbol.
  • Proficient in vertical and horizontal setups.
  • Recommends program optimization steps where inefficiencies are observed.
  • Designs and builds simple machining fixtures (e.g. soft jaws, custom plates).
  • Recommends program optimization steps where inefficiencies are observed.
  • Provides training guidance to lower skilled machinists.
  • Understanding of appropriate tool types, materials, and coatings.
  • “Confident” ability to communicate verbally in English, to understand technical directions on blueprints, travelers, and computer screens in English, and to create understandable written job status reports for shift changes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements / Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 Years minimum machining experience, at least 1 of which must be on CNC equipment.
  • Ability to work from and interpret, prints, sketches and verbally communicated requirements.
  • Ability to read and use measuring instruments, such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, bore micrometers, with a full knowledge of their application.
  • Ability to set up all 2 ½ and 3 axis machining jobs on Vertical, Horizontal, or Turning centers.
  • Must be able to stand 80% of the time.
