Job summary

Harlow Aerostructures LLC is seeking a skilled machinist to set up and operate multi-axis machines in our Wichita, KS facility. You will produce precision aerospace components by following blueprints and process documentation, ensuring tolerance and surface finish requirements are met.

Responsibilities include measuring parts with micrometers and calipers, selecting and aligning fixtures, and monitoring tool speeds to achieve consistent quality.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in set-up and operation of 3 or 5-Axis Machines preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate machines to produce parts per specifications.
• Measure and test completed parts with micrometers and calipers for conformance.
• Align fixtures and secure tooling, attachments, or materials on machines.
• Monitor feed and spindle speeds during milling operations to maintain tolerances.
• Lay out and mark stock to show cut placements; ensure lubrication and cooling as required.
• Dispose of scrap and waste per company policy and environmental rules.

Job description

• Set and Operate machines to make Machine parts to specifications using machine milling machines
• Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers.
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
• Lay out, measure, and mark metal stock to display placement of cuts.
• Check work pieces to ensure that they are properly lubricated or cooled.
• Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency.
• Confer with supervisor, or manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information.
• Dispose of scrap or waste material in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
• Separate scrap waste and related materials for reuse, recycling, or disposal.
• Calculate dimensions or tolerances, using instruments such as micrometers or calipers.
• Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.
• Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.
• Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit and Harlow Aerostructures LLC.
