Job summary

Belcan Corporation is seeking a skilled CNC Machine Operator in Farmington, CT on 2nd shift. The role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC lathe equipment to meet aerospace-grade quality and tolerance specifications.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of CNC machine operating experience.
  • Experience reading blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Strong math skills for machining applications.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to maintain tight tolerances and perform self-inspection.
  • Willingness to lift up to 30 pounds and wear PPE.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC lathe machines with provided travelers and work instructions.
  • Install and set tooling, load tools, and perform machine setup activities.
  • Adjust machine offsets to maintain dimensional accuracy.
  • Run dry tests and validate new CNC programs prior to production release.
  • Input data into CNC controls and computer systems as required.
  • Monitor tool wear and replace tooling as necessary.
  • Load/unload parts in fixtures and ensure proper seating and alignment.
  • Deburr, inspect, and gauge finished components to verify specs.
  • Maintain records of tooling data, offsets, and production activity.
  • Assist engineering with process improvements and tool customization.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and safety procedures.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machine Operator to join a precision manufacturing team supporting aerospace and industrial production operations. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC lathe equipment while ensuring parts are manufactured to exact specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience working with CNC machinery, interpreting blueprints, utilizing precision measuring instruments, and maintaining tight tolerances in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role offers the opportunity to support continuous improvement initiatives and assist in manufacturing process development.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate CNC lathe machines utilizing travelers, operation sheets, program printouts, and work instructions.
  • Install and set tooling, load tools into machine tool changers, and perform machine setup activities.
  • Enter and adjust machine offsets through CNC control systems to maintain dimensional accuracy.
  • Perform dry runs and validation of new CNC programs prior to production release.
  • Input manufacturing data into CNC controls and computer systems as required.
  • Monitor cutting tool performance, identify tool wear, and replace tooling as necessary.
  • Load and unload parts into hydraulic and mechanical fixtures while ensuring proper alignment and seating.
  • Deburr, inspect, and gauge finished components to verify compliance with specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of tooling data, offsets, production activity, and quality checks.
  • Operate a variety of CNC machines to support manufacturing production requirements.
  • Assist Engineering with the development and improvement of manufacturing processes.
  • Support procurement and customization of cutting tools as required by manufacturing processes.
  • Inspect completed work and maintain strict adherence to quality standards and tolerances.
  • Utilize CMM equipment and precision measuring instruments to verify part conformance.
  • Work effectively within a cellular manufacturing environment and support production goals.
  • Configure and modify machine setups as required to support changing production demands.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, quality requirements, and manufacturing standards.
  • Perform additional duties and support activities as assigned by supervision.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of CNC machine operating experience.
  • Experience operating CNC lathe equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong shop math skills and understanding of machining fundamentals.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
  • Ability to maintain tight tolerances and perform self-inspection of finished parts.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds as required.
  • Willingness to wear required PPE including safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three or more years of CNC lathe operating experience.
  • Experience with Fanuc and Okuma CNC controls.
  • Familiarity with CMM operation and advanced inspection techniques.
  • Experience working in aerospace, precision machining, or high-tolerance manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of shadowgraphs, hand gauges, and additional metrology equipment.
  • CNC programming experience is a plus.
  • Experience supporting process improvement and manufacturing engineering initiatives.
  • Ability to customize tooling and machine setups to support production requirements.
