Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues on CNC machines and production equipment.
• Troubleshoot CNC alarms and fault codes to restore operation.
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs to reduce downtime.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, manuals, and documentation.
• Assist with general building maintenance and HVAC tasks.
• Weld and pipe fit as needed.
• Maintain repair records and parts usage.
• Follow safety and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize repairs.
• May support after-hours scheduling as needed.

Tree Top Staffing is recruiting an experienced Machine Maintenance Mechanic for a full-time opportunity with an established precision manufacturing organization in Rockford, Illinois.

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining CNC machinery and production equipment to support safe and efficient manufacturing operations. The role requires strong hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting abilities and plays a critical role in minimizing equipment downtime and maintaining reliable production operations.

Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience troubleshooting and repairing CNC machinery, including machine alarm and fault diagnosis.

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues on CNC machines and other production equipment
• Troubleshoot and resolve CNC machine alarms and fault codes to restore equipment to normal operation
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs to reduce unplanned equipment downtime
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical documentation
• Assist with general building maintenance, including basic repairs and upkeep of facility systems
• Support HVAC system maintenance and troubleshooting as needed
• Perform welding and pipe fitting tasks as required
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance team members to prioritize and complete repairs
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, parts usage, and repair documentation
• Follow all company safety procedures and lockout/tagout requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience troubleshooting and repairing CNC machinery, including machine alarm and fault diagnosis, required
• Strong working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
• Strong CNC machine troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Ability to diagnose and resolve CNC alarms and equipment faults
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams, and technical manuals
• Exceptional troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Must be able to read, write, and understand English

Preferred Experience:

• Technical or maintenance‑related training
• Welding and pipe fitting experience
• HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting experience

Physical Demands:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and work in various physical positions
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Manual dexterity required to safely use hand and power tools
• Ability to access and work around CNC machinery and production equipment
• Ability to perform physical activities associated with equipment troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair
