Job summary

South Bay Solutions is seeking a CNC lathe operator to machine metal and plastic parts with tight micron-level tolerances. You will monitor tool life, adjust offsets, inspect parts, and document results while upholding safety standards.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and prior machine shop experience. Swing shift: 2:30pm–11:05pm, with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Experience in a machine shop environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Experience using micrometers, calipers and indicators.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload CNC machines.
• Inspect parts and adjust offsets to meet print requirements.
• Document inspection results while running jobs.
• Meet or exceed cycle times; operate multiple machines when possible.
• Log in/out jobs with correct quantities.
• Assist with basic machine maintenance.
• Report problems to supervisor.
• Communicate within team and shifts.
• Maintain a clean, safe workspace.

Summary

The occupation requires monitoring and operating CNC (computer numerically controlled) lathe machines to cut metal and plastic parts for the manufacturing industry. This includes monitoring tool life, adjusting tool offsets, periodic inspection of part & documentation of results while maintaining safety standards.

Required Skills

• Basic math and computing knowledge
• Ability to meet production requirements
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Experience using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other basic measuring equipment

Responsibilities

• Loading / un-loading of CNC machine.
• Inspect produced parts & adjust offsets to meet print requirements
• Document inspection results while running job.
• Strive to meet or exceed set cycle times. Run multiple machines whenever possible.
• Accurately log in & out of jobs, including correct quantities.
• Support basic machine maintenance requirements.
• Report problems/concerns immediately to supervisor/management.
• Communicate effectively within the team & pass down information to different shifts.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment for their area.

Education / Experience

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience working in a machine shop environment.
