Job summary

Joyce/Dayton Corp. in Portland, IN is seeking a CNC Lathe Operator I to manufacture parts to close tolerances. The role is hourly and non-exempt, reporting to the Production Supervisor.

You will read blueprints, set up tools, inspect parts, and adjust programs as needed to meet quality requirements. Qualified candidates will have at least a high school diploma or GED, 1 year CNC Lathe experience, and overhead crane experience, with strong mechanical aptitude and good communication skills.

Qualifications

• Highschool Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of proven CNC Lathe experience.
• Overhead crane experience.
• Ability to read precision measuring equipment.
• Basic blueprint reading skills, programming knowledge or experience, set-up capabilities, tooling knowledge, understanding of feeds and speeds and gearing terminology.

Responsibilities

• Machine metals to close tolerances (.0002 in).
• Inspect parts during production with precision measuring tools.
• Read process sheets, blueprints, and sketches for machining specs.
• Edit pre-written programs under supervision; adjust as needed.
