Job summary

Jobot seeks a CNC Trainer/Lead Machinist in Connecticut to design and deliver training programs across CNC disciplines, lead students in hands-on sessions, and assess trainee progress. You’ll stay current with CNC advances, craft change notices, and develop work instructions to boost operator effectiveness.

You will join a ~300-person team in a modern, climate-controlled, award-winning sustainable factory, dedicated to safe, high-quality manufacturing practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or an associate degree preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years in a training or leadership role with hands-on training preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years hands-on CNC machining experience in Turning, Swiss Turning, Mill-turn, milling.
• Experience or strong background in CNC programming, setup, and operation.
• Ability to convey complex technical information clearly to apprentices and operators.
• Strong reading and interpretation of drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.
• Commitment to safety and quality in a manufacturing environment.
• Physical: frequently lift/carry 10–30 lbs; stand and move as required.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Training and Development

• Design and deliver comprehensive training programs covering CNC machining disciplines; lead students through an in-depth course that combines classroom instruction with practical, hands‑on training.
• Conduct both classroom and hands‑on training sessions ensuring trainees gain a thorough understanding of CNC machining principles and practices.
• Assess trainee performance, provide constructive feedback, and implement improvement plans.
• Stay current with advancements in CNC technology and integrate updates into the training curriculum.

Mentorship and Support

• Act as a subject matter expert on the manufacturing floor, providing guidance to apprentices and less-experienced machinists.
• Author engineering change notices that enhance production and align with CNC best practices.
• Author work instructions, work aids, and training aids that improve operator effectiveness.
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment that encourages knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Machining Operations

• Set up, program, and operate CNC machines (primarily lathes / Turning) according to operational work instructions and specifications.
• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to determine machining requirements.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of CNC equipment.
• Monitor machining processes, make adjustments, and ensure adherence to quality standards; document inefficiencies and issue change notices to engineering or programming.

Qualifications (Needed)

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or an associate degree in a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a training or leadership role, with a preference for candidates who have conducted hands‑on training.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience in CNC machining, with proficiency in Turning, Swiss Turning, Mill‑turn, and milling processes.
• Experience or strong background in CNC programming, setup, and operation.
• Proven ability to convey complex technical information clearly to apprentices and less‑experienced operators — excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong background in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.
• Commitment to safety protocols and quality standards in a manufacturing environment.
• Physical: frequently lift/carry 10–30 lbs, stand, walk, and manually manipulate.
