Job summary

DPI Inc. in Hatboro, PA is seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Machinist to independently set up and run CNC turning equipment in a high-mix job-shop. The successful candidate will read drawings, set up tooling and workholding, verify programs, and produce first-piece-ready parts.

CNC Lathe Machinist

DPI Inc. – Hatboro, PA

Full-Time | Day Shift

Pay: $25–$40 per hour

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.

Work location: 2800 Turnpike Drive, Suite 6, Hatboro, PA 19040 (on-site)

Sign-on bonus: Up to $3,500, paid quarterly over the first year. Employees must be in good standing for each bonus payment to be paid out.

DPI Inc. is a growing precision CNC machine shop serving aerospace, defense, industrial, and other high-specification customers. We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist capable of independently setting up and running CNC turning equipment in a high-mix job-shop environment.

This position requires true setup ability. The successful candidate should be comfortable taking a job from drawings, setup information, tooling, and programs through first-piece approval and production.

Responsibilities

• Independently set up CNC lathes and turning centers
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, GD&T, and specifications
• Install and set chuck jaws, collets, fixtures, and other workholding
• Cut, bore, and prepare soft jaws when required
• Properly establish work coordinates and part zero
• Select, install, and touch off turning, boring, threading, grooving, drilling, and other tooling
• Load, verify, and safely prove out CNC programs
• Set and adjust tool geometry and wear offsets
• Make minor program edits and process adjustments when appropriate
• Set and verify threading operations
• Inspect first-piece and production parts using micrometers, calipers, bore gages, thread gages, indicators, and other precision inspection equipment
• Hold close tolerances throughout production runs
• Troubleshoot dimensional variation, tool wear, chatter, finish, chip-control, and other machining problems
• Perform multiple operations and setups as required
• Maintain accurate production and inspection records
• Work independently while communicating issues to programming, quality, or management
• Follow DPI safety, quality, AS9100, and ITAR requirements

Qualifications — Required

• Previous CNC lathe setup experience in a precision machining environment
• Ability to independently set up a CNC turning center from start to finish
• Strong blueprint-reading skills
• Working knowledge of GD&T and close-tolerance machining
• Experience setting work coordinates, geometry offsets, and wear offsets
• Ability to cut and properly set soft jaws
• Knowledge of common turning, boring, grooving, drilling, and threading operations
• Ability to inspect your own work using precision measuring equipment
• Ability to diagnose and correct common machining problems without constant supervision

Qualifications — Preferred

• Fanuc-controlled lathe experience
• Haas lathe experience
• Experience with live tooling, Y-axis, sub-spindles, or multi-axis turning centers
• Experience machining stainless steels, tool steels, aluminum, nickel alloys, and other difficult materials
• Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience
• Experience in low-volume/high-mix job-shop manufacturing

We are looking for someone who understands the complete turning setup process—not simply an experienced machine operator. A strong candidate should be able to look at a job, understand how it needs to be held and tooled, establish the setup correctly, and consistently produce conforming parts.
