Job summary

GE Aerospace in Wilmington, NC is seeking an Inspector B experienced with CNC machining to set up and use electronic gauging and precision measuring instruments, perform surface plate inspections, and train teammates.

You will read engineering drawings, document findings in inspection reports, and participate in lean, safety, and quality initiatives. The role includes a starting wage of $35.55 per hour with 10% shift differential and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience in CNC-related setup/operation.
  • 2+ years reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints.
  • 2+ years using precision measuring instruments.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs with proper ergonomics.

  • Set up and perform mechanical and visual inspections using electronic gauging and precision instruments (wax/trace, rotary tables, surface finish devices).
  • Perform surface plate inspections and repetitive measuring operations.
  • Document findings and complete inspection reports.
  • Read and inspect to engineering drawings, inspection planning, and standards (may include in-machine inspections).
  • Train and mentor other inspectors.
  • Actively participate in a team-based LEAN environment.
  • Maintain housekeeping, safety and quality standards; assist with part marking, wash and dry-lube as needed.

Job Description Summary

This is a challenging role that involves performing mechanical and visual inspection tasks. These will include the set-up and use of electronic gauging equipment including all conventional and unconventional mechanical inspection devices such as wax and trace, rotary tables. and surface finish measuring devices. You'll also assist in the training and instructing of other personnel in team-oriented environment to ensure that high quality inspection techniques are accomplished.

We’re hiring an Inspector B experienced with CNC machining who can set up and use electronic gauging and precision measuring instruments, perform surface plate inspections, and train teammates. Inspector B certification training provided.

Competitive Compensation:
  • Starting at $35.55 per hour plus, 10% shift differential

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain good housekeeping, adhere to safety and quality standards, and assist with part marking, wash, and dry-lube as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • This role may encounter high risk or hazardous operations and/or include working shifts beyond a standard workweek. As such, a requirement of the role is to be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience setting up/operating at least TWO of the following: CNC drilling, milling, grinding, turning, or broaching — this is a required qualification.
  • 1+ year reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints and/or production planning.
  • 2+ years using precision measuring instruments.
  • Able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs with ergonomic procedures.
  • Preferred Prior aircraft engine machining experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working in high-performing, team-based manufacturing environments.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
