Job summary

GE Aerospace Beavercreek site is seeking a CMM Inspector to inspect production hardware, write and optimize CMM programs, and perform capability studies. You will interpret drawings and GD&T to ensure compliant inspections and work closely with cell engineering to drive improvements.

Applicants should have CMM experience, machining knowledge, and the ability to use calipers and micrometers. This full-time, on-site role includes shift differentials and safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 1 year of CMM experience.
  • Knowledge of MIL-I-45208 and MIL-C-45662.
  • Understand and interpret ANSI Y 14.5, B89.3.2 and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.

Working at our Beavercreek Site

GE Aerospace operations have been part of the Beavercreek community for over 70 years! Our Beavercreek facility manufactures gas turbine tubes, ducts, and manifolds, and also has complex machining, fabrication and investment casting capabilities. Product engineering, new product development and testing is performed on site. This facility also does repair and overhaul of tubes, ducts, and manifolds. We have been awarded OSHAS’s highest safety rating.

Role Overview

Inspects Production hardware primarily for conformance to specifications and drawings, such as dimensions, tolerances and datum schemes using a CMM or other automated measuring system. Write CMM programs for all new parts and improve programs for existing parts. Complete process capability analysis using existing formats/tools. Will be required to work with cell engineering techs to resolve problems. Identify improvements and provide feedback and suggestions to Engineering to improve process capability. Work with Engineering to implement new inspection programs to the floor and resolve any issues. Also may be required to layout Fabricated and machined parts for first article dimensional inspection. Interprets Engineering drawings and associated requirements (dimensions, specs, GD&T, etc.) to develop compliant and accurate CMM inspection programs.

The Ideal Candidate

Knowledge of machining and related specifications. CMM experience (Coordinated Measuring Machine), programming and operation. (willing to learn, and go to offsite training) Able to use standard shop measuring devices (calipers, micrometers and comparators). Knowledge of MIL-I-45208 and MIL-C-45662. Understand and interpret ANSI Y 14.5, B89.3.2 and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.

Required Qualifications

High School graduate or equivalent. A minimum of 1 year of CMM experience.

Preferred Qualifications

PC experience using Windows & Excel - CAD Experience beneficial.

Additional Information

Wages are $22.75 + per hour based on experience. 10 % Shift Differential for 2nd and 3rd Shifts. Ability to lift and exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Ability to work in an area where there is moderate noise intensity (85 to 89.9 dBa). Ability to work in an area where, due to normal machining operations, there may be dust, fumes, oil, or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels). Safety. Your safety is important to us, so we provide most protective gear including hearing protection if needed. Strong safety focus with daily/monthly reviews and we have been awarded OSHAS’s highest safety rating. GE Aerospace provides a $125 voucher towards the purchase of safety shoes as well as a voucher for safety prescription glasses if needed. Surroundings. You’ll be operating and working around moving machines – stand-up forklifts, mobile carts, cranes, etc. Due to normal machining operations there may be dust, fumes, or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels (PEL)). In addition to sitting and standing while operating equipment, some activities may require standing in one place for long periods, walking around, or climbing stairs. Temperature. Most areas are climate controlled.
