Job summary

GE Aerospace in Asheville is seeking a Level 2 Inspector to oversee the inspection of complex rotating jet engine components in a controlled environment. The role requires precision measurement using CMMs and traditional inspection tools, following strict drawings and blueprints.

You will cross-train on multiple inspection devices, train new hires, and contribute to process improvements focusing on safety, quality, and efficiency. This is a hands-on position in a fast-paced aerospace QA lab.

Job Description Summary

Job Description Summary The Level 2 Asheville Inspector role involves the inspection of complex rotating jet engine components, working with unique aerospace alloys. This role will utilize a variety of precision CNC and conventional inspection equipment in a clean, temperature-controlled environment. The Inspector will be required to utilize a variety of precise measuring equipment, following work instructions, planning, drawings, blueprints, etc. Work will involve inspecting hardware with tight tolerances and fine finishes to ensure customer specifications and aerospace standards are met. Individuals will participate as a team to identify and implement process improvement opportunities that focus on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and human development.

Technical Skill Proficiency

Job Description Technical Skill Proficiency Sets up and runs most CMM programs from start to finish by following the defined process. Inspects high-volume parts using established inspection processes, including standard recurring work. Demonstrates proficiency with machine software and controls required for the current role. Understands and demonstrates use of all gages needed for current job Is cross-trained on all inspection equipment required within the work area. Demonstrates proficiency with all inspection equipment used in the QA lab. Provides Operator Characteristic Verification Process (CVP) support or performs operator CVPs as required. Assists with training new hires on routine inspection tasks and processes.

Problem-Solving/ Troubleshooting

Problem-Solving/ Troubleshooting Able to diagnose and resolve common problems and occasionally some complex issues independently. Can identify and fix both basic and more advanced issues autonomously Knows who to contact when there is an issue they cannot address (i.e. Non Conformance Record, Oracle, Outside Service Provider hold, eAndon, GE Operating System)+C4 Quality & Precision Standards Ensures adherence to quality and precision standards through the inspection of parts and identification of quality issues and / or defects. Consistently demonstrates the ability to utilize proper tools, gages, and material handling techniques. Follows defect procedures and instructions to save parts from being scrapped, where and when applicable.

Leadership

Leadership Able to offer process, and quality-related advice and /or informal training to less experienced peers and/or operators. Develops and builds upon individual capabilities via mentors, trainers, and on-the-job experiences while beginning to develop the skills needed for more formal supervisory responsibility. Ability to work well in a team.

Autonomy

Autonomy While under moderate, direct supervision, can make routine decisions within defined parameters. Able to operate autonomously when conducting certain machining operations or tasks. Follows step-by-step instructions and processes, whether documented or from their, trainer, or supervisor. This role may encounter high risk or hazardous operations and/or include working shifts beyond a standard workweek. As such, a requirement of the role is to be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining. This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
