Jobot in Ossian, IN is seeking a CNC Department Lead to oversee the second shift and guide CNC operators and setup personnel while supporting production, quality, safety, and continuous improvement goals. This hands-on leadership role focuses on training, assigning work, and resolving production issues to keep the department running smoothly.

The ideal candidate has hands-on CNC machining, programming, or setup experience, plus supervisory skills, blueprint reading, and CAD/CAM proficiency.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of manufacturing experience; hands-on CNC machining, programming, or setup
• Previous lead, training, or supervisory experience preferred
• Strong blueprint-reading and precision measurement skills
• Knowledge of speeds, feeds, cutting tools, fixtures, and machining processes

Responsibilities

• Lead and provide daily direction to CNC operators and setup personnel
• Assign work and manage department priorities to meet production schedules
• Monitor productivity, quality, cost, safety, attendance, and employee performance
• Train and coach employees on machine operation, setup, quality standards, and documentation
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks, equipment problems, safety concerns, and quality issues
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and sample parts
• Calculate and adjust speeds, feeds, depths of cut, and other machining parameters
• Select appropriate fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials
• Use CAD/CAM software to develop or support manufacturing processes
• Work with engineering and production teams to resolve machining challenges
• Set up and operate CNC equipment when setup personnel are unavailable
• Inspect completed parts using precision measuring instruments
• Partner with Quality Assurance to maintain product specifications
• Assist with interviewing, performance reviews, coaching, and employee development
• Serve as acting supervisor when the Production Supervisor is unavailable
