Job summary

Jobot is seeking a CNC Department Lead for the 2nd shift in Ossian, IN. This on-site, permanent role oversees CNC operators and setup personnel, ensuring production schedules, quality, safety, and continuous improvement goals are met.

The ideal candidate has hands-on CNC machining, programming, or setup experience and can train staff, read blueprints, and adjust speeds, feeds, and tools using CAD/CAM software. Compensation is $27–$31 per hour with full benefits.

Qualifications

• Three years of progressively responsible manufacturing experience.
• Hands-on CNC machining, programming, or setup experience.
• Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to independently set up and troubleshoot CNC equipment.
• Strong blueprint-reading and precision measurement skills.
• Knowledge of speeds, feeds, cutting tools, fixtures, and machining processes.
• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead and provide daily direction to CNC operators and setup personnel.
• Assign work and manage department priorities to meet production schedules.
• Monitor productivity, quality, cost, safety, attendance, and employee performance.
• Train and coach employees on machine operation, setup, quality standards, and documentation.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks, equipment problems, safety concerns, and quality issues.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and sample parts.
• Calculate and adjust speeds, feeds, depths of cut, and other machining parameters.
• Select appropriate fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials.
• Use CAD/CAM software to develop or support manufacturing processes.
• Work with engineering and production teams to resolve machining challenges.
• Set up and operate CNC equipment when setup personnel are unavailable.
• Inspect completed parts using precision measuring instruments.
• Partner with Quality Assurance to maintain product specifications.
• Assist with interviewing, performance reviews, coaching, and employee development.
• Serve as acting supervisor when the Production Supervisor is unavailable.
