Job summary

Jobot is seeking a CNC Department Lead for the 2nd shift in Ossian, IN. This on-site, permanent role oversees CNC operators and setup personnel, ensuring production schedules, quality, safety, and continuous improvement goals are met.

The ideal candidate has hands-on CNC machining, programming, or setup experience and can train staff, read blueprints, and adjust speeds, feeds, and tools using CAD/CAM software. Compensation is $27–$31 per hour with full benefits.

Qualifications

Three years of progressively responsible manufacturing experience.
Hands-on CNC machining, programming, or setup experience.
Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
Ability to independently set up and troubleshoot CNC equipment.
Strong blueprint-reading and precision measurement skills.
Knowledge of speeds, feeds, cutting tools, fixtures, and machining processes.
Proficiency with CAD/CAM software.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Lead and provide daily direction to CNC operators and setup personnel.
Assign work and manage department priorities to meet production schedules.
Monitor productivity, quality, cost, safety, attendance, and employee performance.
Train and coach employees on machine operation, setup, quality standards, and documentation.
Identify and resolve bottlenecks, equipment problems, safety concerns, and quality issues.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and sample parts.
Calculate and adjust speeds, feeds, depths of cut, and other machining parameters.
Select appropriate fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials.
Use CAD/CAM software to develop or support manufacturing processes.
Work with engineering and production teams to resolve machining challenges.
Set up and operate CNC equipment when setup personnel are unavailable.
Inspect completed parts using precision measuring instruments.
Partner with Quality Assurance to maintain product specifications.
Assist with interviewing, performance reviews, coaching, and employee development.
Serve as acting supervisor when the Production Supervisor is unavailable.
