Job Summary
The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long term care. Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned resident under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Knowledge of and delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per care plan. Considered a member of the nursing team and is expected to follow infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use. Provides assistance with basic health care needs including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, vital signs, and psychosocial support. Assists with transfers, repositioning, walking, and exercises. Completes tasks related to food preparation and dining, and assists residents with meals and snacks.
The NA also aids providers and nursing staff with procedures, documents resident interactions, and communicates changes in resident condition. Collects non-invasive specimens, provides housekeeping and laundry services, and encourages participation in wellness and recreational activities. May participate in committees and organizational tasks.
