Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Patient Care Tech to support nursing staff and provide direct patient care in a fast-paced healthcare setting. You will assist with routine patient tasks, monitor conditions, and help ensure safety and comfort under RN supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CNA program completion and listed on Illinois CNA Registry or nursing student with one clinical rotation, with verification.
• BLS through American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Collects, labels and transports specimens as assigned.
• Obtains 12-lead EKGs.
• Discontinues saline locks and indwelling urinary catheters.
• Performs hourly patient rounding in collaboration with the RN.
• Assists patients with hygiene, nutrition, ambulation and plan-of-care needs.
• Responds to patient call lights and safety concerns promptly.
