Medication Technician Role

The purpose of the Medication Technician is to assist in the delivery of care and services to our residents.

Position Highlights and Benefits
  • $5,000 sign‑on bonus, paid in increments over the first year of employment.
  • Both full‑time and part‑time positions are available.
  • Compensation ranges from $17/hour up to $24/hour, based on experience, including shift differentials.
  • Benefits, including health insurance, are available for all teammates working at least 20 hours per week.
  • First (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM) and Second (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM) shifts are available. Flexible scheduling is offered. Every other weekend is required for full‑time positions.

Position Purpose and Summary

The primary responsibility of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is to provide residents, clients, or participants with routine daily nursing care and services. These duties are performed in accordance with each resident’s assessment and care plan, and as directed by nursing supervisors.

Essential Functions
  • Provide resident‑centered care in line with individual preferences and care plans. Ensure that all residents are treated with kindness, dignity, and respect. Respond to call lights promptly.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including mouth care, eye and ear care, bathing, dressing, grooming, and nail care. Support toileting needs, perineal care, and incontinence care, and change bed linens as needed and assigned.
  • Support mealtime needs by serving and setting up meal trays, assisting with feeding, and preparing and serving thickened liquids as indicated. Distribute snacks and fresh ice water as assigned and as needed.
  • Assist residents with ambulating, transferring, lifting, turning, and repositioning according to established policies for safe lifting and as specified in the resident’s care plan. Correctly use lift equipment per manufacturer’s guidelines and facility protocols.
  • Document care and services as instructed using the electronic medical record system, when applicable.
  • Perform tasks as assigned and as authorized by certification and level of care. These tasks include taking vital signs, providing catheter care, applying TED hose, weighing and measuring residents, collecting specimens, conducting range of motion exercises and other restorative procedures, and providing care to dying or deceased residents.
  • Report changes in residents’ conditions promptly and appropriately. Immediately report any suspected abuse or crimes against a resident.
  • Report exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous chemicals, as well as near‑miss accidents and accidents—with or without injury—to your supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Apply restraints, bed rails, and positioning devices only as ordered.
  • Follow skin care protocols and preventative measures to avoid skin breakdown. Notify a supervisor immediately of any open areas, redness, or other changes in skin condition.
  • Adhere to established infection control guidelines and standard precautions, including proper handwashing and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Complete assigned training requirements and maintain the required continuing education credits to keep certification current, in compliance with State and Federal regulations and requirements.
  • Assist with transportation to life enrichment activities and participate in care plan or other family conferences as indicated.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to ensure the orderly operation of the facility or program.
  • Uphold LSC’s mission, vision, values, and customer service standards in daily interactions.

  • Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.: Must be certified in the state of North Carolina and complete all continuing education necessary to maintain certification.
