Job summary

OSF HealthCare in Illinois is seeking a Patient Care Technician/Certified Nursing Assistant to provide safe basic care, take vital signs, assist with daily living activities, and collect specimens as part of the patient care team.

The role involves documenting information in patient charts and communicating with the Nursing Team to ensure continuous care, with potential supervision of patients as needed. CNA certification and CPR are required, with prior clinical experience preferred.

Qualifications

• REQUIRED: CNA-Certified Nurses Assistant
• REQUIRED: CPR American Heart Association HealthCare Provider BLS
• PREFERRED: High School Diploma or GED Experience
• PREFERRED: 6 months experience in a clinical healthcare environment
• PREFERRED: 6 months experience in supporting physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of patients

Responsibilities

• Provide safe basic care to patients including taking vital signs and assisting with activities of daily living.
• Perform specimen collection and observe patients for physical or emotional changes.
• Record pertinent information in patient charts and communicate with the Patient Care Team to ensure continuity of care.

Expected pay for this position is $18.98 - $22.34/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Patient Care Technician/Certified Nursing Assistant (PCT/CNA) provides appropriate safe basic care to patients which includes taking vital signs, assisting patients with activities of daily living, specimen collection, and observation of patients for physical/emotional changes. Other duties include recording pertinent information in patient charts, communicating with other Patient Care Team members to ensure continuity of care, and may function in a role providing constant supervision to patients as needed. Duties may vary according to department expectations and needs.
