Job summary

Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) seeks a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide direct resident care at the Fitzsimons Veterans Community Living Center. Responsibilities include bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, ROM, transfers, and charting in a safe, infection-controlled environment.

Requirements include an active CNA certification in good standing and a current BLS Healthcare Provider Card, with a high school diploma or GED (CNA substitution allowed).

Qualifications

• Must hold and maintain an active CNA certification in good standing from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.
• Must hold a current BLS Healthcare Provider Card.
• High school diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED).
• Substitutions allow CNA certification to substitute for the high school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct resident care, including bathing, dressing, undressing, assisting in and out of bed, personal hygiene, feeding, toileting, ROM, transporting, and social interaction to meet residents’ basic needs.
• Explain patient care before, during, and after contacts.
• Answer call lights.
• Assess basic resident care needs and report changes to the charge nurse.
• Perform basic observations, vital signs, BP, weight, intake/output, and skin assessments.
• Ensure infection control and universal precautions; dispose of waste.
• Stock supplies and manage linen room and equipment; complete forms.
• Utilize safety devices and transfer equipment correctly; participate in ongoing education.
