Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provides or assists with personal hygiene for patients, including baths, oral hygiene, skin care, and grooming.
• Takes and records vital signs, intake/output, and other data; reports changes to the nurse.
• Changes bed linens and maintains patient rooms in orderly condition.
• Assists patients with meals and feeds those unable to feed themselves; documents intake.
• Performs non-sterile treatments as directed by the RN (e.g., CPMs, SCD, ostomy care).
• Responds to call lights and communicates patient needs to the nurse.
• Explains procedures and treatments to patients and families before completion.
• Maintains knowledge of infection control and safety policies; protects patient confidentiality.

Job description

Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25-inpatient beds located in Paris, IL & a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. Position Summary

The Certified Nurses Assistant is responsible for performance of basic patient care and assistance assigned by and under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Interacts as a team with physicians, RNs, and LPNs, to provide services to patients and their families. Has contact with a variety of patients of all ages (infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric), as well as the mentally and physically challenged.

Essential Functions

• Provides or assists with personal hygiene for patients for patients. Gives baths, shampoos, oral hygiene, back and skin care, toileting, and shaves male patients.
• Takes and records vital signs, intake and output, and other data (weight, height etc...). Reports abnormal data, patient problems or complaints, and changes in a patient’s status to the nurse assigned to the patient.
• Changes bed linens, and maintains patient rooms and unit in orderly fashion
• Assists patients with meals. Positions patients and trays, and feeds patients who are unable to feed themselves. Documents patient intake appropriately.
• Performs non-sterile treatments as directed by the RN including dry/moist heat packs, ice bags, applying CPMs, SCD, changing of ostomy supplies, collecting specimen, according to policy.
• Follows up on customer complaints as quickly as possible by identifying steps to correct problem, communicating with coordinator/manager, implementing plan, and providing feedback to customer.
• Answering call lights and advising nurse of needs beyond scope of position.
• Explains procedures and treatments thoroughly to patients, families, and/or significant others before completion.
• Maintains knowledge of job-related duties; infection control, OSHA blood borne pathogens, TB/respiratory protection plan, policies and procedures, Disaster Manual, Safety Manual.
• Observes patient’s confidentiality by not discussing patient issues except on a need-to-know basis, and not looking up information in computer or on patient records.

Position Requirements

• Current certification with the State of Illinois for Nursing Assistant required for work with Swing Bed patients.

Pay Rate

Pay ranges from $15.250/hour to $20.979/hour (rate of pay is based on applicable years of experience).
