Job summary

Olathe Health Hospice House is seeking a patient-focused Certified Nursing Assistant to assist Hospice House patients with activities of daily living under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You will help implement the plan of care and support patients and families in comfort and safety.

The role requires completion of a CNA program, a high school diploma, and 1+ year of experience, with preference for hospice experience. This is a part-time, on-site position at our Hospice House facility.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct personal care for hospice patients as guided by care plan from Registered Nurse.

  • Completes all documentation consistent with regulatory guidelines and department policies.

Position Summary / Career Interest

The primary function of this position is to provide assistance with activities of daily living to Hospice House patients in need of such assistance, under the Plan of Care and direction of a Registered Nurse. To provide comfort and enforce when needed the plan of care to patients and family.

Responsibilities And Essential Job Functions
  • \"Consistently meets work schedule.\"
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Provides direct personal care for hospice patients as guided by care plan from Registered Nurse.
  • Reports unexpected clinical findings to RN immediately. Answers patient call system promptly.
  • Responds to critical situations in an appropriate manner.
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients, including infection control.
  • Effectively manages the hospice patient\'s pain and comfort within the scope of practice. Reports and documents measures as needed.
  • Regularly attends and participates in Hospice House IDT meetings.
  • Completes all documentation consistent with regulatory guidelines and department policies.
  • Provides direct patient care included but not limited to, personal/comfort care, taking recording of patient vital signs and blood glucometer reading.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education And Experience
  • Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program
  • High School Graduate
  • 1 or more years of experience
Preferred Education And Experience
  • 2 or more years of Hospice experience
Required Licensure And Certification
  • Certified Nurse Aide / Assistant (CNA) - State Department for Aging and Disability Services (KS), Department of Health & Senior Services (MO) - Includes licenses for all other states upon Hire
  • CPR/ AED/ BLS - Other BLS within 14 days
