Job summary

Amedisys Hospice of Brevard in Melbourne, FL is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide compassionate personal care and support to patients in their homes. This PRN position requires travel within Brevard County and offers a flexible weekday schedule without weekends.

The ideal candidate holds a CNA certification, has CNA experience within the last two years, and possesses CPR certification, a valid driver's license, and liability insurance. Background screening is required.

Qualifications

• CNA experience within the last two years.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license with reliable transportation and liability insurance.
• Background screening through Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal care services to patients.
• Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics to ambulation, transfers, ROM and positioning, and homemaking.
• Plans and prepares nutritious meals, assists with feeding.
• Performs homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
• Observes, reports, and documents changes in patient status and reports to the primary nurse.
• Follows written instructions for personal care prepared by a registered nurse.
• Assists patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by nurse or therapist.
• Performs and records simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
• Other duties as assigned.

Overview

Responsibilities

• Provides personal care services to patients.
• Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics to the performance of specific techniques of personal and supportive care such as ambulation of clients, transferring clients, assisting with the normal range of motion and positioning, and doing household chores.
• Plans and prepares nutritious meals, assists with feeding, as assigned.
• Performs homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
• Observes, reports, and documents any changes in patient's status. If unable to perform a certain task, report to the primary nurse.
• Follow specific written instructions for personal care prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care. Written instructions are to be received prior to the delivery of services.
• Assists patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by nurse or therapist.
• Performs and records simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
• Other duties as assigned.
