Responsibilities
  • Provides personal care services to patients.
  • Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics to perform personal and supportive care, such as ambulation, transferring clients, assisting with range of motion and positioning, and household chores.
  • Plans and prepares nutritious meals, assists with feeding, as assigned.
  • Performs homemaking and environmental services as assigned.
  • Observes, reports, and documents any changes in patient's status; report to the primary nurse if unable to perform a task.
  • Follows specific written instructions for personal care prepared by a registered nurse, received prior to service delivery.
  • Assists patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by nurse or therapist.
  • Performs and records simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant per state requirements.
  • CNA experience within the last two years; if more than two years ago, complete refresher training and competency program.
  • Must pass the competency program of the care center.
  • Current CPR certification.
