Job summary

GBMC HealthCare is seeking a compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant to support nurses in delivering direct and indirect patient care under supervision. The role emphasizes safety, patient comfort, and timely assistance with daily living activities.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, CPR (Heart Saver) certification, CNA licensure, and current Maryland registration as a CNA. At least 6 months of direct patient care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Licensure: Heart Saver (CPR Certification) and CNA.
• Current Maryland registration as CNA with the Maryland Board of Nursing Examiners of Nurses.
• At least 6 months experience in direct patient care preferred.
• Ability to read and write English to provide basic patient care and understand instructions.
• Interpersonal skills to interact with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff.
• Competent to safely handle medications.

Responsibilities

• Provides care, comfort, and safety under direct supervision of a nurse.
• Uses proper infection prevention techniques.
• Performs and records delegated nursing care procedures.
• Observes patients and reports changes in condition to nursing personnel.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, etc.).
• Assists in patient mobility and turning, as needed.
• Transfers/transport medications from one area to another as needed.
• Distributes patient trays, nourishments, and assists with feeding when necessary.
