Job summary

Patient First in Catonsville, MD seeks a patient care assistant to locate patients, obtain vital signs, triage, and assist clinicians. The role involves charting in the EMR, ordering supplies, and supporting nurses and physicians in care delivery.

The candidate should have CNA certification in Maryland, strong multitasking ability, and be able to lift up to 50 pounds. OSHA-compliant and team-oriented environment offered.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Minimum typing experience.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of clinical experience in a hospital or physician’s office preferred.
• Ability to hear pages, bells, and phone system.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time (possibly 4 to 7 hours at a time).
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to attend scheduled CPR classes and code drills.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Willingness to work at any center due to a staffing or center emergency or reduction of work.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) by the Maryland Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Locate patients and obtain vital signs by visual and auditory measures; triage and assess medical condition.
• Understand and use the electronic medical record system.
• Order lab, x-ray, and medical supplies as directed.
• Notify Nurse/Physician when patient is ready for exam; relay symptoms and questions about lab or x-ray needs.
• Assist Nurses and Physicians with patient treatment and care.
• Handle Physician and Nurse requests promptly and respectfully.
• Perform lab duties and phlebotomy procedures.
• Sterilize and set up instruments; restock treatment rooms.
• Report to the Charge Nurse before leaving; follow guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness; OSHA guidelines; perform maintenance tasks as directed.
