As a Certified Nursing Assistant, here’s a big-picture view of what you’ll do :

1. Care for the personal care and hygiene needs of patients in facilities such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, rehabilitation centers, and hospitals
2. Work with a team of physicians, RNs, LPNs, and aides to deliver excellent patient care
3. Help with daily needs such as bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, eating, and nutritional intake
4. Assist with ambulation, transfers, and range of motion exercises
5. Check vitals, measure intake/output, monitor blood glucose, and document any changes
6. Observe patients and notify supervisors of issues requiring a change in patient needs, care, medication, or equipment

A few must-haves for Certified Nursing Assistants :

• High school diploma (or equivalent) and active Nursing Assistant Certification in New Jersey
• Minimum of 50 hours of CNA experience in a medical facility
• CPR certification
• Knowledge of state and federal healthcare laws and regulations
