Job summary

Atlas is seeking a CMT Engineer to perform engineering services across sites in Ohio. You will consult with clients and internal teams, evaluate data, and research materials and design methods under supervision of a Professional Engineer. Some travel may be required.

The role focuses on guiding field staff, maintaining standards, and delivering completed services on time while controlling costs. You'll collaborate with clients and Atlas team members to support system improvements and project

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred.
  • 2-5 years of professional relevant experience working on materials testing projects.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Effective written, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to work in a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of materials, testing methods, and quality management systems related to construction materials.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients in identifying and resolving issues in materials testing projects and recommend solutions.
  • Provide direction and mentoring to field staff on project requirements.
  • Maintain standards and ensure on-time completion of engineering services with cost control.
  • Collaborate with Atlas team and clients, coordinating with site managers for system improvements.

Job Description

The CMT Engineer will perform engineering services involving on going sites throughout Ohio. The responsibilities will include: consulting with internal and external parties; data evaluation; researching innovative materials and design methods, providing written advice and recommendations, material suitability analysis, and other duties as assigned. Services will be performed under the supervision of a Professional Engineer where necessary, and results are subject to review. Some travel may be required.

Core Responsibilities
  • Assist clients in anticipating and resolving any issues associated with materials testing projects; meet with appropriate project personnel to identify materials related issues and recommend solutions consistent with project documents and Quality System manuals.
  • Provide direction, leadership, and mentoring to field staff regarding project requirements and provide solutions to issues that come up during the construction process.
  • Maintain standards and consistency while minimizing the impact on work schedule and cost and ensure engineering services are completed on time.
  • Work with other Atlas team members and clients in a collaborative environment — including updates with site managers and coordination for system improvements — and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support materials testing services.

  • Bachelors in Civil Engineering or related field preferred; P.E. preferred.
  • 2-5 years of professional relevant experience required, including experience working on materials testing projects.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Effective written, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to work as part of a team involving staff, clients, and outside agencies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills (including identifying data quality issues), results oriented and able to complete tasks on deadline with little supervision, and able to make good decisions using sound, professional judgment.
  • Knowledge of materials, approved methods, and equipment used in physical testing of construction materials; and quality management systems as they relate to the physical testing of construction materials (all preferred).

About the Job
  • Employment Type: Full-time
  • Compensation: $35.00 - $40.00 hourly rate
    The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state's law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
