Job summary

Atlas is seeking a Materials Technician to join our team in Cleveland/Brecksville, Ohio. You will conduct field testing and inspections to ensure quality and safety of construction projects such as roads, bridges, and buildings, gaining hands-on field experience and learning from experienced professionals.

You will travel to various sites, assist with documentation, and help mentor technicians and interns while following Atlas safety policies and quality procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Minimum of one year of experience performing concrete, masonry, soil and asphalt testing and inspections.
  • Willingness to travel within the reporting office area and surrounding regions as required by project assignments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods in varying weather/terrain.
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I certification preferred
  • Nuclear Gauge User Safety Certification preferred
  • NEPA or FERC or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs construction-related field tests as directed by CMT Manager and Senior Engineer.
  • Travel to various construction sites, primarily in SW Pennsylvania with possible overnight/weekend work.
  • Relays information to project manager/engineer with limited in-field decision making.
  • Transports equipment, test specimens, and documents to field personnel, laboratories, clients, or other offices.
  • Enters daily field observation reports and summary reports electronically.
  • Performs field density testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other materials.

Job Description

Atlas is seeking a Materials Technician to join our team in Cleveland Brecksville Ohio In this role you will perform field testing and inspections that help ensure the quality and safety of construction projects including roads bridges buildings and other critical infrastructure This position offers hands on field experience opportunities to learn from experienced professionals and a chance to contribute to projects that have a lasting impact on local communities.

Core Responsibilities
  • Performs construction related field tests as directed by the Construction Materials Testing CMT Manager and Senior Engineer
  • Daily commutable travel to various construction sites primarily throughout SW Pennsylvania with occasional overnight andor weekend work as required Out of state travel is typically voluntary
  • Relays information to the project manager andor engineer with limited in field decision making responsibility
  • Transports equipment test specimens and documents to field personnel laboratories clients or other offices and provides physical assistance with equipment setup
  • Enters daily field observation reports and summary reports electronically
  • Performs field quality control testing of concrete and masonry construction
  • Performs field density testing of soil concrete asphalt and other construction materials
  • Assists technicians and professional staff with project related tasks and supports other departments as needed
  • Provides mentorship and training support to technicians and interns
  • Follows Atlas safety policies and procedures
  • Reads and interprets construction plans and specifications
  • Follows Atlas Quality Control QC plans and Standard Operating Procedure SOPs
Qualifications & Requirements

Youll thrive here if you have High school diploma or equivalentValid drivers licenseMinimum of one year of experience performing concrete masonry soil and asphalt testing and inspections preferredPhysical ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds stoop bend and stand for extended periods while working in varying weather conditions and terrainMotivated career oriented individual with a strong interest in learning and growing within the construction industryWillingness to travel within the reporting office area and surrounding regions as required by project assignmentsAbility to work independently and manage responsibilities with minimal supervisionAbility to travel primarily within surrounding statesACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I certification preferredNuclear Gauge User Safety Certification NEPA FERC or equivalent preferred
