Job summary

S&M's Construction Services team in Nashville, TN (and Huntsville, AL) seeks a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Laboratory Supervisor to lead lab personnel, oversee daily operations, ensure quality and safety, and support business development on project proposals.

The role balances supervision, client relations, and project management, with responsibilities for scheduling, equipment maintenance, training, certifications, and coordinating with field staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years in geotechnical and construction materials testing with supervisory/leadership experience.
• Experience supervising lab staff and coordinating testing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering or related field is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee lab personnel, testing, calibrations, and daily operations.
• Manage Construction Materials Testing projects, proposals, budgeting, scheduling, and report delivery.
• Coordinate staff scheduling with Field Supervisors and Project Managers.
• Train employees on lab processes and ensure certifications.
