Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking an energetic CMT Intern Level 2 to support field and laboratory testing for construction materials projects in the Richmond, VA area. You will assist with data collection, documentation, and testing activities while developing knowledge of materials testing standards and project workflows, under guidance from senior staff.

Qualifications

Pursuing an engineering degree (AS/Bachelor/Master) in Civil Engineering or related field.
90 days of related experience; at least one internship with ECS or another firm.
Certification within 90/270 days: Radiation Safety, Soils I, Concrete I.
Valid driver’s license if driving for ECS.

Responsibilities

Performs field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, asphalt with guidance from senior staff.
Documents field conditions and test results in timely field reports.
Maintains organized field and laboratory equipment and supplies.
Performs basic calculations, data reduction, and data entry tasks.
Communicates with contractors, field staff, and project teams about testing activities and site conditions.
Notifies supervisors of changes in site conditions, testing needs, or potential issues.
Assists with reviewing laboratory results and supporting project documentation.
Performs other duties as assigned.
