Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a CMT Intern Level 2 to support field and laboratory testing on construction materials projects. You will perform routine tasks, document results, and grow understanding of testing standards, project workflows, and safety practices.

The role emphasizes independent work with guidance, strong communication, and the ability to lift equipment up to 85 pounds. Requires pursuing a related degree and relevant certifications within timelines.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Must complete Radiation Safety, Soils I, and Concrete I within 270 days; additional certifications may be required for Level 2.
• Must have valid driver's license when driving for ECS.

Responsibilities

• Performs field observation and testing with guidance from senior staff.
• Conducts routine testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other materials.
• Documents field conditions and testing results in field reports.
• Assists in equipment preparation, organization and maintenance.
• Performs basic calculations, data reduction, and data entry tasks.
• Communicates with contractors and project teams about testing activities and site conditions.
• Notifies supervisors of changes in site conditions or testing needs.
• Assists with laboratory testing, including sample prep and curing.
• Maintains organized field and lab work environments.
• Participates in project meetings and coordination activities.
• Assists with reviewing laboratory results and supporting documentation.
