Job summary

Materion Corporation in Lorain, Ohio is seeking a Finishing Operator to join our team. In this hands-on role, you will process bulk materials and prepare them for shipment. You will operate industrial equipment such as roll straighteners and band saws, and use measuring tools to ensure quality.

As a Finishing Operator , you will play a key role in processing bulk materials and preparing them for shipment. This position offers hands‑on experience with industrial equipment and the opportunity to cross‑train in various areas of the plant.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Operate roll straighteners and cut‑to‑length band saws to process cast materials

  • Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to transport material throughout the plant. Load and unload trucks as needed

  • Load and program the anneal and age heat treat ovens according to SOPs

  • Use precise measuring tools (tape measure, caliper, micrometer) and document results

  • Set up straighteners for cast material processing

  • Follow detailed bundling and shipping instructions based on customer specifications

  • Perform minor maintenance tasks and assist with facility/equipment cleaning

  • Support other skilled or unskilled tasks as needed

  • Cross‑train in other plant areas to support production needs

  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Proficiency in using measuring devices such as tape measures, calipers, and micrometers

  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including coverage for vacations or production demands

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate documentation

  • Strong work ethic and commitment to safety and quality standards
