Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a Dimensional Metrology Engineering Technologist in the Prototype Fabrication Applied Metrology (PF-AM) group. The role focuses on precise dimensional inspection, CMM programming, and M&TE selection to meet design specifications, collaborating with engineers, machinists, inspectors, and quality professionals.

Qualifications

Expert knowledge programming, operating and calibrating CMMs in a manufacturing environment.
Expert knowledge utilizing QUINDOS, PC-DMIS, PolyWorks or Calypso CMM Software.
Expert knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for accurate measurements.
Expert knowledge using M&TE in high-precision dimensional inspection labs, incl. surface roughness testers etc.
Bachelor's degree in engineering/science and 8 years of related experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Participate in Design for Manufacturability Reviews and ensure inspection requirements are achievable.
Select appropriate M&TE based on TUR to meet design specs.
Write optimized, user-friendly CMM programs.
Provide technical support to internal and external customers.
Mentor less experienced team members and foster knowledge sharing.
