Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory seeks a QA/QC Inspector 3 or 4 to support dimensional inspection of critical hardware. The role focuses on CMM programming, validation of features against drawings, and collaboration within the Applied Metrology Group’s team across controlled laboratories in Los Alamos, NM.

Higher-level duties include complex CMM programs, mentoring junior staff, and formal communication with machinists and customers to ensure product acceptance.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience programming and operating CMMs.
• Experience with height gages, surface plates, surface analyzers, optical comparators, thread gages and indicators.
• Demonstrated experience with blueprint reading, including ASME Y14.5.
• Applied shop mathematics, unit conversions and trigonometry.
• Strong writing ability and verbal communication skills.
• Dependability and commitment to long-term goals of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present data and reports to peers, senior colleagues, management, and customers.
• Work within a team to ensure components meet drawing standards and requirements.
• Provide consultation to machinists and customers to support final product acceptance (QA/QC 4).
• Mentor and train junior staff (QA/QC Inspector 4).
