UAB Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama is hiring Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs) to join our interdisciplinary outpatient care teams. CMAs provide essential clinical and administrative support, preparing patients for exams, assisting physicians, and maintaining patient records in a fast-paced setting.

The ideal candidate holds CMA (AAMA) or CCMA (NHA) certification, current CPR certification (or within 30 days of employment), and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by AAMA or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by NHA required; if certified by another accrediting agency, AAMA or NHA certification must be obtained within six (6) months of employment.
• Current CPR certification required or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical procedures to prepare patients for treatment or research protocol.
• Assist physician or other healthcare team member with completion of treatment/protocol.
• Perform simple, non-invasive patient procedures according to applicable policy and/or protocol; may perform clerical and/or lab duties as requested.
• Respond to the needs of patients ages newborn through geriatric.
