Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Capitol Services (HCCS) in Washington, DC is seeking a Project Manager to lead construction materials testing for commercial and residential land development. You will manage technician staff, oversee earthwork, concrete, foundation, masonry, steel, EIFS, and pavement testing, and coordinate on-site inspections.

Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or Geology preferred; 3-5 years in geotechnical engineering or materials testing; EIT/PE preferred but not

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or Geology preferred.
• 3-5 years of field or project management experience in Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing, or Construction Project Management.
• Engineer in Training or Registered Professional Engineer preferred but not required.
• Experience managing construction project backlog between $1-3 million.
• Experience estimating labor requirements for various types of construction projects.
• Some business development experience is a plus and must be able to interact/communicate with clients.
• Experience managing construction/field staff is a plus.
• Specialty construction testing certifications a plus (ACI, NECEPT, ICC).
• Perform other duties as required to assist the Branch Manager.

Responsibilities

• Manage, coordinate, supervision, and direction of technician staff for earthwork, concrete, foundation, masonry, steel, EIFS, and pavement testing.
• Prepare and submit bids and proposals and attend pre-bid meetings.
• Efficiently perform on-site project inspections including soil bearing and compaction tests, concrete, and steel inspections.
• Meet with clients and attend site meetings, as necessary.
