Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Arlington, VA, is seeking a Systems Development Engineer II to help design, deploy, and operate large-scale distributed systems for government customers.

The role emphasizes innovative, resilient infrastructure and close collaboration with AWS teams to meet demanding security and performance requirements. The position requires an active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph

Responsibilities

• Solid foundation in Linux and networking fundamentals. The ideal candidate brings deep, hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting Linux-based systems, ideally within large-scale, distributed environments where reliability and performance are critical.
• Demonstrated expertise in system design and architecture. The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on experience building and operating large-scale, distributed systems. They possess a strong understanding of networking fundamentals and how servers and network infrastructure interact to deliver reliable services at scale.
• Think Big. Design, deploy, monitor, and automate infrastructure, tools and systems to provide a highly-available and resilient platform for our customers' and our team's workloads.
