Job description

Position Description
Will provide cloud programming and software engineering in support of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Duties include:

  • Design and build CI/CD pipeline configurations to orchestrate provisioning and deployment of both large- and small-scale systems.
  • Design and implement fully automated enterprise pipelines using a suite of DevOps tools: Experience working with AWS DevOps Tools and Gitlab.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop, stand-up, and support a cloud platform using a variety of programming languages and cloud-native technologies. Develop and implement systems using Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, CDK, SDK, Terraform, etc.).
  • Automate cloud deployments, as well as build CI/CD pipeline to support cloud-based workloads.

Required Skills
7+ years of relevant experience.

  • Deep knowledge and expertise with METexpress, METviewer, Probabilistic viewers, VLab.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident and able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to access applicable government facilities/systems.

Desired Skills

  • Understanding of NOAA Water Initiative/COASTAL Act.
  • Understanding of NOAA Precision Navigation/Integrated Navigation Services.
  • Experience using data assimilation tools like (Marine JEDI, Hurricane Supplemental, SIP).

Education
BS in Computer Science, related discipline, or equivalent. MS preferred.

Location
This position supports work at NOAA's College Park, MD facility and may be performed remotely with 0-25% travel.

Salary
The salary range for this role is $48,000 - $269,000/year. This range is a good faith estimate based on similar roles across the organization. ERT considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including the location, scope, and associated responsibilities of the specific position, as well as a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
